| Contiguous Flight Augers
Within built up areas there may be need for deep excavation works to be undertaken along a site boundary or adjacent to pre-existing buildings or structures. Contiguous piling provides a solution for sites bordering existing structures, especially older buildings where there are low tolerances to vibration sensitivity.
The contiguous method for piled walls or foundation piles is most suited to sites where the geotechnical conditions are looser as found in a silty or sandy soil stratum.
A contiguous piled wall is constructed by drilling to the required depth or proposed finished height of the wall and simultaneously grout injecting the cavity as the auger is being retracted. Once the auger is fully retracted steel reinforcement is able to be placed.
The diameter and depth of the piles will vary and may require anchoring depending upon the load requirements and depth of excavation. Once the excavation is completed the vertical surface can be sprayed with concrete to provide a completely flat and aesthetically pleasing finish.
