Star Finned Screw Piles

Star Finned Screw Piles

The development of the star finned screw piling system to provide a foundation for laterally loaded non-critical structures such as lighting columns, traffic lights, signs and power transmission poles, has been carried out by SFL for the most common range of lighting columns.

How does it work?

The star finned screw pile is installed by a hydraulic rotary drive and is screwed into the ground to its design length. The fins are free to rotate as they are dragged vertically into the ground with the shaft. Engineering design of the foundations for signage, lighting etc. is dictated by known loads applied to differing soil conditions.

What are the benefits of using the star finned screw pile system?

Current construction methods of cast in-situ concrete requires excavation, shoring and curing time. The star fin screw pile requires no excavation or shoring, requires one machine for installation and pole erection and is removable and relocatable.

What kind of projects are they suitable for?

Typical applications include lighting columns, traffic lights, electrical transmission poles, shade structures, signage, pre-cast panel construction, and noise barriers.

Brace Anchor

The Brace Anchor provides temporary support to precast concrete panels.

The re-useable brace anchor can be installed in minutes and is ready for use immediately.

Designed for either one prop or two props simultaneously, the anchor utilises a safety “T” lock anti-tamper device.

Underpinning

Cracking brickwork together with internal gyprock wall splitting can mean that the foundations are moving.  In many cases building distress can be attributed to one or more of the following factors:

  • Building on poorly compacted fill sites
  • Undermining of footings due to adjacent excavation
  • Trees grown too close to the building
  • Inappropriate footing design
  • Plumbing leakages
  • Soil shrinkage

Irrespective of the orginal cause of the building distress, if the building footings are unsupported, footing failure and further distress to the building will utlimately occur.  A site investigation is necessary to determine the case of building distress.

Customised Solutions
